Last week I had a week of annual leave in order to have some quality time with my eldest daughter whilst she was on half term holidays. With my work, travel, along with finishing my diploma and a younger sister for her to have to contend with I feel that she has been a little neglected. So half term was the opportunity to make up for that.
We had a lovely week together starting off with ice skating. We decided to visit Ice Sheffield (@ice_sheffield) due to it having earlier opening times than Bradford, but also the fact that we have got a little bored with Bradford and wanted to try somewhere new. Ice Sheffield is very modern, the rink is spacious and it was a breeze to pay and get our skates. Not only that but it includes ample free parking, so this is somewhere we will definitely visit again in the future. Stevie started off a little like Bambi but within half an hour she was raring to go along with trying to perform some twists. (I wore my heart rate monitor – 90 minutes burnt 528 calories!).
We also visited my cousins cupcake / tearoom ‘Sugar, Spice ‘n’ All Stuff Iced’ in Sowerby Bridge for a Little Ladies Afternoon Tea Party, the girls were treated to afternoon tea consisting of sandwiches, jam tarts and cupcakes with juice served in china tea cups. They also had the opportunity to dress up in feather boas, hats and jewellery to really make them feel like ladies. We took a friend of Stevie’s too and they both had a wonderfully fantastic time plus I got to bring a box of cupcakes home!
We also went for lunch with my gran (Stevie’s great-gran) and did a spot of shopping. At 7 1/2 she has now got into shopping wanting various items and even trying them on in the changing rooms! This was topped off with a ‘late’ night watching Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, which is a wonderful informative film about looking after the planet and how one person’s actions can have major implications on others. A very lovely message.
All in all, a lovely week but the reason for the blog being quiet!
